Bday ideas for 1 yr old

Okay my daughter doesn't turn a year old until december 18th but I'm starting gift shopping now. But I don't know what a good big present would be. and what are some good party games too?

  • Baby dolls are always a good idea but I'd get her an educational puzzle that is age-appropriate. Toys R Us has lots of awesome toys. If she has started to color already I would definitely get her some toddler crayons. The kind that are big so they can't fit in her mouth and they won't roll off the table. You can find them at -- they're called Swirly Whirlies!

  • 1st birthday parties are really more for the adults than for the kids. I wouldn't worry about party games since your daughter won't be interested in playing them. For my kids' 1st birthday parties, I planned kid friendly food and then had a bunch of adult appetizers. The kids (and the few other kids there) were happy to play with the toys we already had.

  • I had my sons first bday party at a pizza place that way if there were older kids there they would have something to do. It turned out great
