What is proper Texting Etiquette?

I always seem to get stuck not being sure who should be the last to text something. I get into an endless loop of TTYL's, LOL's, and OK's.

  • do you really need proper texting etiquette? leave it simple, who the hell cares?

  • I just kind of stop texting when I have nothing else to say. Of course I only text about 3-4 exchanges...after that I just call.

Example as is in my phone:
C: What days am I keeping Quinn this week
    Me:Mon, Tue, Thurs.
    C:K, what time
    Me: by 8
    C: Thanks

  • It depends on who I'm talking to and what the context of the conversation is. If it seems like a response is warranted, then I respond. But if it's just kind of general conversation, I end it quickly since I hate the back and forth as well. I have no problem being the one that ends the convo, doesn't matter to me ;-) If the person wants to talk further, they can always call.

  • With me, if I am making some kind of arrangements about something I always end with Thanks, TTYL.
If it is just general conversation, I always say, Got to go now, TTYL.

Then, unless they ask me something else or something like that, I just let it go. Like someone else said, just kind of like hanging up the phone.

  • Is this seriously a question?
My issue with texting is that I only have a limited number of texts (200/month). So when I'm texting someone, i hate it when they send me a short reply that says "lol" or "k" What a waste of a text.
