  • All we had was the cake and ice cream - but I made it an afternoon party not a luncheon.

  • Fruit with fruit dip (cream cheese and marshmallow fluff mixed together - so good!) I also laid out buns, deli meat and cheese with condiments, crackers, cheese slices and summer sausage and Little smokies in BBQ sauce.

  • Over the years we have done different things-- last year we did BBQ sandwiches, the year before it was build your own subs, one year we grilled hot dogs/brats/hamburgers. This year we ordered pizza. I usually serve chips, veggies and dip and some kind of fruit-- either fruit salad or cut up fruit and dip and potato salad for sides.

  • I try to build a menu around my theme. If I am going without a theme I build it around what time of day it's going to be, whether I'm putting on a meal or a table of snacks. Also, where it's going to be. If I was having it at home in my yard I'd go with a BBQ, but if it were at the pool or something, I'd call for pizza.

  • I usually have pinwheels and chips. But that's only due to the fact it last 2-3 hours and it starts after lunch. Oh plus we always have the cake.

  • The last birthday I let her choose what we had... Cream cheese strawberry dip with graham crackers, pineapple, apple slices, orange slices, chips with french onion dip, turkey, cheese with an italian dressing in a flour or wheat tortilla rolled and sliced, carrot sticks, and a Pink (strawberry) heart cake with pink hearts on it.
