I need help giving out chores...

I have a 15 yr old girl, 13 yr old girl, 11 yr old girl, 10 yr old boy, 6 yr old girl, and a 7 month old baby, with a cat. Can someone please tell me what chores these kids need to be doing. I'm sick of them laying in front of the tv.

  • well the older ones can help with wash, dishes, floors, pretty much anything. change litter....

have the 6 year old put away dishes, or silverwear, put her own clothes away, make beds, feed the cat, water the cat.

  • ooooooo I saw on "Supper Nanny" that if you get a little fish bowl, make little fishes with the chores on them and a little magnet, throw on a blind fold, make a little fishing pole with a magnet on the end and let them fish for their own chore that they cannot see they have much more fun doing their chores.

  • My boys were 6, 8, and 12.
WE had a plate that we turned every week.
Included dishes, floors, meal planning, dusting, laundry to washer.
I supervised and helped with any and all.
The kids took pride in their weekly job.
They especially liked planning the meals for a week.
We did this together and what a learning experience. Nutrition, preperation, budgeting, using what we had on hand, shopping.
This is work. But well worth it.

  • Talk things over with DH first then have a family meeting with DH involved. Tell them new rules for TV watching. Go over the chores (good ideas previously) and stick to it. Also, have family game times. It can be fun after you get over the resistance from them.

  • The ones 10 and up could be up helping you wash dishes, wash clothes, fold and put laundry away, straightening, dusting, cleaning their OWN rooms, sweeping, mopping, etc. The 6 year old could be straightening up her own room and helping the older siblings wash dishes, wash clothes and put away laundry.
