Do you believe this statement?

There is nothing new. Anything that claims to be new is either false or not really new to begin with.

  • Ok, in regards to the explanation my answer is still no. Ideas are something new that haven't existed before. "new" is something that didn't exist before so for instance before this computer existed there were no computers. That made it "new" when computers came into existence. Just because plastic existed before and the computer has plastic in it, doesn't make it's function not new.

  • No, lots of things are "new". I guess I don't know what this statement is referring to so it's hard to say.

  • Ecclesiastes 1
    Everything Is Meaningless
    1 The words of the Teacher, [a] son of David, king in Jerusalem:

    2 "Meaningless! Meaningless!"
    says the Teacher.
    "Utterly meaningless!
    Everything is meaningless."

    3 What does man gain from all his labor
    at which he toils under the sun?

    4 Generations come and generations go,
    but the earth remains forever.

    5 The sun rises and the sun sets,
    and hurries back to where it rises.

  • 6 The wind blows to the south
    and turns to the north;
    round and round it goes,
    ever returning on its course.

    7 All streams flow into the sea,
    yet the sea is never full.
    To the place the streams come from,
    there they return again.

    8 All things are wearisome,
    more than one can say.
    The eye never has enough of seeing,
    nor the ear its fill of hearing.

    9 What has been will be again,
    what has been done will be done again;
    there is nothing new under the sun.

    10 Is there anything of which one can say,
    "Look! This is something new"?
    It was here already, long ago;
    it was here before our time.

    11 There is no remembrance of men of old,
    and even those who are yet to come
    will not be remembered
    by those who follo

  • I heard it at church today...apparently some people really believe this. That there is nothing 'new' it is just people taking the same old stuff and putting it together different ways. Like Electricity isn't new but someone figured out how to make it usable. Cell phones aren't nre people just figured out how to plastics and metals together in order to make it work. glass is still sand... Kind of thinking.

  • I can't decide...I see the truth in it but at the same time I think that it's a long term thought process that misses out on some shot term things. Like babies aren't new but THIS baby is new.
