What do you use to clean your toilet bowl?

I'm interested in what the "natural" moms out there use. I've used denture cleaner tablets, and they work pretty well, but I'd like to consider other alternatives. They would have to be safe for septic, but I'm assuming that most natural products would be.

  • This is what we use for most cleaning (initially used as part of my daughter's 6th grade science fair project). It is cheap (my favorite) and non toxic.
    ΒΌ cup white vinegar
    ΒΎ cup warm tap water
    1 tablespoon baking soda
10 drops of tea tree oil (antibacterial, antifungal, etc.)
2 drops oil of lavender essential oil (antiseptic and smells nice)

  • I just bleach for everything. I am totally in love with bleach! I also use alcohol to clean my counters.

  • Bleach is not safe for septic systems, so I use it very sparingly.

  • I don't use bleach that much... I found that Tea Tree Oil kills mold and mildew a bit better IMO and not nearly as smelly! I make my window cleaner from 91% alcohol... LOL...

  • A lot of companies now are making "green" bathroom/kitchen cleaners as an effort to be more environmentally aware.

  • I use the Ecosense line of cleaning products - work great, less expensive than store and national brands and smell wonderful - you can take a look at the products at
