how do I discipline a child that bites when over excited?

My daughter is 2. She has a biting problem. Sometimes she bites when she gets overly excited. I think she doesn't know what to do with all the excitement and that's why she does it, but if it isn't done to be mean, then how do you go about disciplining them for it?

  • I'll be labelled as abusive, but IT WORKS. Whenever my child(ren) would bite, I'd force them to bite a bar of soap (no, it really won't hurt them...consider what else goes in their mouth). Two or three times of this and they stopped biting. If they forgot, they remember as soon as I brought out the bar of soap.
