How do you know if you are feeding your kids balanced daily? Is this okay?

My kids today ate/will eat:
Breakfast DS cereal DD Oatmeal both had Chocolate milk.
Lunch was Chef spaghetti w/ meatballs with carrot stix and apple sauce w/ 1/2 juice 1/2 water
Snack was popcorn and 6 teddy grahams and water
For dinner they will eat pork chops, asparagus and noodles w/ olive oil and herbs with milk
Maybe have 1/2 a peach before bed with water
It doesn't sound like enough veggies... How can I work in more? Is it to much fruit? Fruit and veggies are in the same group but how much of each do you give?

  • Don't over-think the whole thing, as long as you give them water, milk and healthy juices and no soda pop that is one thing covered already....
    secondly instead of junk food and lots of kids meal from any fast food place...give them lots of fruit snacks, kids yogurt and veggies with each meal if possible.....
    also work whole grain into there diet. ....if you make sandwiches make them with great with my picky eater!!! The only think that i would not recommend is the canned stuff, unless you really are in a hurry!!!

  • they say 5 servings of fruits and veggies and to go by color if u dont know usign red, blue, yellow, green and orange. So try givign them oranges or orange juice, blueberries, tomatoes, green spinach, beans etc and a banana or yellow peppers or squash, its all about variety and letting children try new tastes make eating exciting.

  • you can grind up veggies and stick them in the canned food to get more it's 5 fruits and veggies a day look at the pymrid to see how well you are doing. It lookslike you are doing a great job though

  • WE eat canned stuff for lunch on Sundays and some Saturdays. I would rather do sandwiches but they cost to much.

  • It sounds like you have the idea. Generally what you feel is healthy for your kids is the best thing to do. Sounds like they have a healthy eating schedule as well. My kids have just about the same, and they are both healthy. :)
