How do YOU.....

get your 4 1/2 year old to listen you you?? and what do you do when he/she won't??

  • If my 4 1/2 year old doesn't listen to me a threaten a consequence for her misbehavior...if she continues to disobey, i follow through and she goes to time out.

  • If my 3 year old doesn't listen to me, she knows there will be consequences. One thing that really works is taking away her Nick Jr time

  • spank her behind when she breaks the rules and reward her when she does well.

  • Time outs and being consistant about it. I will usually give one to two warnings (depending on the severity of what they are doing).

  • FOCUS focus, focus. I hug him snugly, facing me. I make sure he is looking directly at me, no other distractions. I'll say what I need to say, and make sure he says it back to me so I know he heard me.

  • get down on her leverl, tell her again what I just said & why she has to do it & what will happen if she doesn't. Follow through on the consequence if she disobeys, praise her for good listening if she does.
