What are some good school lunch containers?

My DD is starting first grade and I will be making her school lunches for the first time. There are so many products out there for school lunches it can be a little overwhelming. Before I bought anything I wanted to see what works good and what doesn't. Can any seasoned school moms tell me what works good for them. Thanks.

  • I have always used the three section ziploc containers. Perfect space for a sandwich, carrot sticks and a few cookies. Fits nicely in a soft side lunch box with a capri sun and a frozen cooler insert!

  • If you want something disposable, go with a simple paper bag and Ziplocs. If you're looking for something neat, look into buying a Bento box! They're really cool and don't go out of style, and they're great for giving your kiddo several different things in her lunch.

  • Tupperware has some nice sandwich containers, and little snack sized containers..the cheapy containers will leak, warp in the dishwasher, etc. These dont'! They are great, and are guaranteed.
Ziplock baggies are often messy and using them everyday would be wastefull if you have something reusable.

  • we are into things that are reusable... and we are NOT into plastics... so my girls will be taking pyrex glass containers with lids for their food... otherwise they will take foil wrapped sandwiches, etc...
