Can you help me find out if this is true?

I got this as a forward and I'm just wondering if it's true or not, and I couldn't find it on snopes...

The first testicular guard, the "Cup", was used in
Hockey in 1874, and the first helmet in Hockey was used in 1974.

That means it only took 100 years for men to realize that their brain is also

  • Helmets were not MANDATORY until the 70's. Before that they left it up to them whether they wore them or not.

  • I guess we could say the same about women allowing themselves to be treated as second class citizens until the 1920s or so. Why did it take so long for women to stand up for themselves? Goes both ways. Bottom line: Humans can be thick.
