Is this odd??

My son recently switched daycares.. he really seems to love it and seems happier than he's ever been.. he's been there for a month now.. just the past week we noticed he started sucking his thumb / fingers... Our provider says there is no other child there that sucks his thumbs for him to pick this up from.. he never even took a nook as an infant .. is this weird or just a "thing"... ?? just curious..

  • Just a thing. Sometimes they wind up doing something they like such as putting their fingers in their mouth and like it so continue doing. They are learning all about themselves and they do not have to see another person do it in order to start out of the blue.

  • maybe hes getting a new tooth? beybe hes chewing? my daughter sucked her thumb for a few months old so i dont know why a child would start at an older age.

  • even if the provider doesn't see it...a kid could be doing it. i would say it's just a thing.
