Back To Going Potty At Night?

My son is three. He has been fully potty trained since before he was two. Recently he had a bad belly bug and we put a pull-up on him at night because he had uncontrollable bowel movements. and now...some two months later- he won't wake up at night to go potty anymore. now he just either goes in bed or in a pull-up if he's wearing one.

  • we had the same problem, we moved in with my sister and she kept buying pullups and putting her in them. put platic on his bed and make him wear underwear. it took us two months after moving out to get her back into things, plus we told her if she wanted to go to preschool she had to go potty in the potty no her pants. that helped.

  • I agree with putting plastic on the bed it will help keep it clean. I would also suggest waking him up at night. It might not be something you had to do before, this time around you might. If he is a heavy sleeper he might not realize he is going. You could also try going back to basic like a reward calendar. Something where you put it in his room and in the morning if he is dry he puts a sticker on it. After "X" number of stickers you could give him a special surprise. If he sees the stickers it might motivate him. Good Luck!

  • Make him help you clean the sheets, and make his favorite unavailable a few times "because they have pee" and he will get back to going to the potty at night. Good luck.
