Why do people on here spell "loosing" instead of "losing"?

I am not trying to be rude but so many people will say..."I'm loosing weight" or "I'm trying to loose weight" etc. The correct way to spell it is losing and lose. I looked up weight loss in the question and answer section and there were tons of questions and answers with this. Does everyone spell it like this or something?

  • It is a common misspelling just like people write "to much" instead of "too much". Misspelling really should not be an issue as long as someone can get their point across.

Of course misspellings can be irritating but the polite person would just overlook it, especially on a site like this where people come from all sorts of backgrounds.

  • Generally I do overlook people who can't spell that good but isn't it alright just to tell them it's spelled "losing"? I see this so much I have to say this one is slightly annoying...I figure they have the right to know so next time they can spell it right, you kow?

  • sometimes people just type fast. Some are doing 2 and/or 3 things at once and don't realize they made a mistake. I have noticed that usually the people who correct them about grammar/spelling etc. are those who don't agree with them.

  • No I'm pretty sure they are spelling loosing because when you say losing audibly it has an "oo" sound...It's obvious it's done on purpose not because they are trying to multi task.
