belly button goop??

my dd is 17 days old and has whiteish goop in her belly button. What do you mama's do to get rid of it??

  • Is it spit up that has run down and collected?

    Bath, q tip it out.

  • Does is have a foul smell to it?If so it could be an infection,If not it could be Sweat or some type of Build up,I would keep an eye on it,If it gets worse I would go see the Pediatrician.

  • just clean with a q tip dipped in alcohol very gently, has her cord fallen off yet? my kids took like 3 weeks and there was a mucousy looking discharge when it did but it washed away.

  • It sounds like you need to clean it with a qtip and alcohol. It could be from the cord falling off or residue from something that has ran down, babies do spit and droll a lot.

  • q-tip with alcohol to clean it, if it is foul smelling or red around the area you should get it checked to make sure it's not infected.
