How much weight gain is normal at 24 weeks?

I have only gained 11 pounds. Is that pretty average? Doctor said I should put on a little more but he isn't concerned because I puke all the time.

  • You sound quite normal. There honestly isn't an average amount.

Check into Sea Bands for the nausea. They can really help.

  • 11 pounds sounds fine really. It depends what your BMI was when you started. When I got pregnant I was borderline underweight so my OB wanted me to gain 25-40 pounds during my pregnancy. If people are larger or average the numbers are less. I ended up gaining 30 pounds, and having a baby over 8.5 pounds. I was back down to my pre-preg size pretty quickly. You'll be happy you didn't gain more than you need later! When I was about 24 weeks I believe my weight gain was about the same.
