Does your 2-4 year old run everywhere?

My daughter is 3 1/2 and as far back as I can remember she runs EVERYWHERE...

going to her room? RUN down the hallway!
going to the potty? RUN down the hallway!
going to the livinroom? RUN!
going outside? RUN!
etc

I tell her to walk through the house and she walks all funny, lol... tippy toed and stuff! lmao

I guess she is just in a hurry, lol because she CAN walk... she does it when we are in public ad I am holding her hand... but as soon as I let go of her hand.... RUN!

Am I alone? Any ideas why she is always running?

  • My 2.5 year old runs everywhere, too. They have sooooooo much energy. lol. When I worked at daycare, we used to use the phrase "inside feet". Our "inside feet" go slow and our "outside feet" can go faster. lol

Please always say to me, "I will take some of that energy" I always reply... " if anyone is going to take it, it will be me, I have to keep up with them!"

  • She's been running since about 18 months and hasn't stopped. 5 1/2 now. I swear, if I could bottle even a fraction of her energy and sell it we'd never have to work again! With the exception of when we lived in an upstairs appartment I've always let her have at it. She can go fast too, I struggle to catch her. We play tag outside and most of the time is spent in me running after her.

  • My 3 1/2 year old does this too. She is constantly being told to walk in the house and at the stores but as soon as you get the words "walk, now" out, she is back to running again. UGh
