My 9 year old son has been diagnosed with Generalized Anxiety Disorder....

He is seeing a therapist and its helping some BUT Im wondering if anyone has ever tried some of the all natural meds..like Becalmed, or St Johns?? Im not a fan of meds but my son has so much trouble falling asleep due to his thoughts that Id like to TRY something to see if it helps while he continues therapy. Thanks
Patty

  • Melatonin. I use 1.5 mg per night about an hour before bedtime for my son. He's 11yrs old with ADHD and ODD. It helps him shut his mind off so he can sleep. He went from tangled in the bedding to waking up looking like he just laid down. I get the 3mg scored tablets and cut them in half for him. He's doing way better then he has. He also has told me it helps him sleep.

  • curious how did you know he may have anxiety? My son is 7 and sometimes I think he worries too much. I am not a fan of meds either.

  • He has been a worrier since he was 5. He worries about people dying, he worries about storms, IF he sees a homeless person- he will think about it for days and not be able to sleep...I took him to a therapist-and she diagnosed him-just within the last 3 months-so we are working on therapy now.

  • Lost my path on what I was going to say. We noticed an extreme difference in how he's been doing in school to.
