Why wont they stay in there rooms?

Both my boys wont play in there rooms at all unless my husband or i am in there... I thought about putting baby gates in front of there doors like big play pens... (they are 5yrs and 11m)

  • It's pretty normal.. At that age, they want your undivided attention. You could make it into some type of game. But, it will get better... Some day, you will be saying, "I wish my kids wanted to spend more time with me"! LOL!

  • I agree with pupmom, wait till their teenagers and making them spend time with you feel likes your punishing them!! I guess if you want some alone time you could put a gate up, but I wouldn't leave them alone too long, they can get into big trouble at those ages!!

  • I would spend time with them. Kids grow up too fast. Pretty soon they will be 13 and not want to spend time with you. If you need them to play for a little bit what I do with my 3ry old (it might not work with an 11mth old because you really can't reason with them) is I tell him that I can play with him a little bit then I have to get my work done. He will usually want to do "work" too, so I find him something simple he could do. I tell him when we have our work done, we can play some more. He's cool with that.
