what is white wine?

okay this may be a stupid question but what is it? im cooking chicken cacciatore and the recipe calls for white wine. I went to wal-mart and picked up Brownstone- Pinot Grigio. I have no idea if this will work or not. I dont drink so I have no clue what white wine is.

  • That's fine but you could have also bought cooking wine. It's by the olive oil at my grocery store.

    White wine is made with green grapes, red wine is made with red grapes.

  • Its just the color of the wine. Generally, wine only comes in two basic or white. They can be of any brand, any name, any flavor.White wine is usually dry.

  • It is wine that is usually yellow from white grapes I think. That is all I know.

  • Red wine is much drier than white, that's why you drink it at room temperature.
