What questions do you ask a reference when calling about a babysitter?

I think I asked my last question wrong (but it's ok because I got information I hadn't thought of). LOL!

I will be calling someone for reference about a potential babysitter. What questions should I ask them about her? I'm pretty paranoid about leaving my kids with people but I don't want to go too crazy on a total stranger about the person they have babysitting for them. Know what I mean?

  • Ask them
How did they like them overall?
Were there ever any 'unusual' situations with them?
Why are they not using them anymore (if theyre not)?
What did their child say about the baby sitter?
    and so on

  • Any criminal background, what kind of parent is she, do you know her discipline style and if so what is that, how long have you known her, how would you describe your friendship with her, etc.
