How do you find a reliable baby sitter?

We moved recently, I do not know many people at this place and I really not sure how to start finding a good sitter-

(1) Russian newspaper
(2) My daughter's school- no success
(3) Advertisement that I found in our laundry room...

I really am not sure how else?
