  • Ideally, anything. I usually end up with nothing in there. In fact, this month i will be in the negative until I get paid on the 1st.

  • I try to leave about $100 extra, just in case. I do all my banking online though, so I always know what the balance is and what's pending. I get in trouble when I write checks because I rarely do - the $100 covers it in case I forget to write it in.

  • not always easy to keep it, but I try to keep no less than $500 as a minimum for unforeseen things. My goal would be to have $3000 just sitting there, as that would cover most anything and give a sense of security. Maybe some day we'll be back to that point again after these debts are paid off.

  • Lol honestly I just try not to overdraft. I wish I had the financial security of an extra $1000 in there.

  • ditto BradenIsMySon... if we have $5 left in there by next payday then i'm happy...

  • I think right now we have maybe $0.12 in our bank account. We're lucky if we have anything left in there by the next payday.

  • If it gets too low, my husband transfers money from the savings account to ensure a check never bounces.

  • Enough to cover a few months of pay if something should happen. My husband just bought a third vehicle, so that drained $12,000 out.

  • $1 to avoid service fees. Every other dollar has a purpose and is used for that purpose, be it savings, blow money, groceries, or bills.
