"Comfort" objects

Does your toddler have a "comfort object"? My 2 year old doesn't but most kids his age I know do. I'm not concerned but does anyone else's toddler not have one?

  • My oldest never did. He liked to sleep with a 'baby' but any stuffed animal would do. I tried to never do the same one twice in a row. I tried the same thing with my youngest. WRONG...he became seriously attatched to his 'Pluto" stuffed animal. My grandson has a blankie. He doesn't have to have it all the time any more. When he does go to his room to get it I know he's stressing.

  • Other than the pacifier, no. I have been too concerned to let him have anything plush or soft in the crib, and he doesn't seem to want to play with any one thing for long when he's awake.

Do NOT worry. Neither of my kids have developed attachments to portable items. I think what they really liked was the consistent home routine we provided and familiar surroundings.

  • My 1st and 3rd didn't have a "lovey" either. My 2nd son had a My First Elmo and my 4th has one of those blankets with the bear head, we're waiting to see on my 5th.
