have you ever been to a food pantry, what should i expect

I have never been to a food pantry.but this month i am going to have to go.
i prefer not to go into my long story as to why i have to do this.but anyways, i will be going to the pantry in our county( roane, county TN ). i am very very nervous.i don't know what to to act.i am so afraid that the people driving by will think bad of me for being there.and what about those who come in to donate.all that is required at this one is a check stub.
have you ever been to one? what should i expect? do they ask alot of questions? do they give enough to get me through at least part of the month? i am so embarrased...i never thought i would be doing this in a million yrs.guess i am just looking for some moral support here.

  • They will ask you the basics:

    Income (if any)
    Reason for being there
    Number of kids/people in household
Depending on your needs, they will give you more than enough to get through until you can get FS or something like that.

  • You might see alot of homeless people that are getting assistance?
You cant apply for food stamps or temp assistance? Try going through a mega church?
Nobody knows when they will need help so dont be embarassed.
But the people helping will be nice, loving, and real!
