For those of you who say Muslims are all bad....

because the Koron (spelling?) says to kill all non Muslims have you over looked this in the bible?

Deuteronomy 17
If there be found among you, within any of thy gates which the LORD thy God giveth thee, man or woman, that hath wrought wickedness in the sight of the LORD thy God, in transgressing his covenant; 17:3 And hath gone and served other gods, and worshipped them, either the sun, or moon, or any of the host of heaven, which I have not commanded; 17:4 And it be told thee, and thou hast heard of it, and enquired diligently, and, behold, it be true, and the thing certain, that such abomination is wrought in Israel; 17:5 Then shalt thou bring forth that man or that woman, which have committed that wicked thing, unto thy gates, even that man or that woman, and shalt stone them with stones, till they die.

Is that really any different? It isn't to me.

  • Direct quotation from english translation of the Qur'an:
2:190 Fight in the cause of God those who fight you, but do not transgress limits; for God loveth not transgressors.

2:191 And slay them wherever ye catch them, and turn them out from where they have turned you out; for tumult and oppression are worse than slaughter; but fight them not at the Sacred Mosque, unless they (first) fight you there; but if they fight you, slay them. Such is the reward of those who suppress faith.

2:192 But if they cease, God is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

2:193 And fight them on until there is no more tumult or oppression, and there prevail justice and faith in God; but if they cease, let there be no hostility except to those who practise oppression.

What does it mean? That you should fight those who oppress you but there are limits as to what is acceptable behavior and if they cese fighting you must cease too.

  • would you care to have me copy and paste verse after verse after verse that would show you just how wrong you are? I can ... and I've got nothing better to do this evening.

Sure, but it has to come from a Muslim site, not a Christian site that "debunks" the Quran.

  • Regardless of what the books say, the radical Muslims are actually killing nonbelievers today while the radical Christians are not.

  • radical Christians are not.

    You are misinformed.

  • Yeah you are truly right. The bible speaks of violence just the same. More Christians actually act on it then Muslims do the words of their book. Yet Muslims are more openly attacked for it. It's sad. When a Muslim does these things it is called terror when a Christian does it most call it illness. Well sorry but the two are no different just because they are done be different groups. It's kinda like how a non- Christian or non-traditional Christian calls out a Christian it is bashing but when Christians do it it is a loving correction. Religion= the biggest double standard of all time.

  • I didn't write the Quran and voting me down won't change what is in it lol. In this thread, I'll count those as a vote up ~ not even the Quran is justification for violence.

Umm so does the bible. That is the point of this question.

  • "Regardless of what the books say, the radical Muslims are actually killing nonbelievers today while the radical Christians are not."

No, they just bomb abortion clinics or picket the funerals of our military... And Christianity has enough blood and violence in its past. This whole idea of killing innocents and extremism is relatively new in Islam. Alienating and ostracizing them is only going to make it worse. A lot of the violence done in the name of Islam also has very little to do with religion. You see geopolitical, social, economic, etc, etc, issues being promoted under the banner of Islam, but that doesn't mean that the problems are religious in nature.

  • Oh, and it also has to be complete passages in context, not half a sentence here and a half a verse there that says what you want it to say.

  • "The Qur'an repeatedly emphasizes that defensive war -- fighting to protect oneself against invading enemies -- is the only kind of combat sanctioned (2:190 - 191). In numerous other examples, it teaches that the use of force should be a last resort (2:192, 4:90); that normal relations between peoples, nations and states, whether Muslim or not, should be peaceful (49:13); that necessary wars must be limited in time and space (2:190); that maximum effort must be applied at all times to advance the cause of peace (10:25); that whatever means are undertaken to work for peace during a conflict (such as mediation and arbitration) must be attempted over and over again until resolution is achieved (8:61); that freedom of religion must be granted to every one (2:256), and so on."
