Do you believe in putting rum on your child/ren's gums?

I personally don't. I get this is probably to the extreme, but if I said putting just a dab of rat poison on your childs gums helps relieve pain...would you?

  • My MIL always does stuff like this, "this is how they did it in the olden days". Or she will give a 1 year old a sip of her alchoholic beverage and then laugh hahahah, "he likes it." I think she's an idiot.

  • NOOO. My 60-sum neighbor said that about my baby and I about had a heart attack! lol. Then he said I should raise my kids like 'real mothers use too. ' totally offended me but I did a smile and nod.. Thinking he must not realize how that hurt a little. =( oh well. Non-the-less I won't do it.

  • there is a huge difference between a harmless drop of rum that won't hurt the kid and rat poison which would harm the kid

  • Nope I do not see any reason. There are many alternatives out there that do not involve alcohol.
