  • actually ibuprofen can be taken once in a while. you can take it for a couple days for a headache or something but not every day for chronic pain. the only pain medicine that is actually harmful is asprin...just make sure it's only 200 mg

  • Taking ibuprofen for a few days to manage pain and inflammation from something like a sprained ankle or sciatica probably isn't a problem. But it's not advised for chronic pain relief, particularly in the last trimester of pregnancy.

A related drug, indomethicin, has been associated with heart problems in a small percentage of babies exposed to it during the third trimester. So even though ibuprofen hasn't been found to cause problems, since it's chemically related to indomethicin I advise against its use after 32 weeks.

  • Do you have a doctor? Ask your doctor. I personally would not take anything. If it not necessary do not take it

  • I'd go with tylenol or the generic acetametaphen.

  • A friend of mine is severly allergic to tylenol. She was allowed to take ibuprofen during her pregnance ONLY if she really could not tolerate the pain she was experiencing. She was instructed she could not take it during the first trimester, or the last several weeks. Ibuprofen can cause bleeding, which is why they advise pregnant women or people who are on blood thinners not to take it.
