Butter or Margarine?

I use butter exclusively, I haven't bough margarine in years. I think it tastes better, and doesn't have the additives that margarine has. It is higher in calories, but I don't have to use near as much to get butter flavor, so I think it works out.

What about you?

  • Butter, margarine is one molecule away from being plastic. Dad was a chemist so I know way too many things about what we put in our bodies. Also if you do this test. On a warm day leave a stick of butter and a stick of margarine out. After a while the butter will lose it's shape while the margarine stays the same. Also you'll notice that there are bugs caught in the butter while while they won't even touch the margarine. If bugs won't touch it then why would I?

  • I have grown up using margarine. My mother used it and now I'm using it. Butter to me just taste strange.

  • We use Smart Balance, which I don't think quailifies as either. It says "buttery spread" on the lable lol. But it tastes great for buttering toast or whatever which is all we really use "butter" for anyway. When it comes to baking, I'll use margarine sticks. I'm sure it's not THAT much better for you than real butter but for some reason I have it in my head that it's not as bad and it makes me feel better about it lol.
