Breast pump questions!

I'm wondering how long breast pumps typically last...
Do the motor's burn out/break?

I'm looking at buying one used, but want to make sure I don't waste my $$ on one that won't last long.
Any advice?

  • I bought mine two weeks used, and used it for 6 months...it still works.
Originally cost 300 at store. I paid 150. It was a medela pump n style dual breast pump. Really good, I recomend.

  • medula pumps are the best and most effective. The 1st years with the soothie bottles work great but not as well the suction slacks off about 3 months into it.

  • I need a double and electric because I'll have to go back to work and want to keep pumping there. Has anyone used a Playtex Embrace Double Electric? I'm supposed to go buy one from a lady tomorrow for $100. She says she only used it 3 times. It seems to come with all the extras.
Does this sound like a pretty good deal?

  • I dont know, like I said, Medela is the best out there, and I only paid 150 for it, and in my experience they are REALLY good, and it was a double. Try researching it on the web. I have never heard anything about that pump before, sorry.

  • I had a Medela and used it for seven months, all the time, I never had a problem with it. Mine cost about $I00 new ( it was a single pump) and I actually sold it to another lady for $30 and told her I didn't know for sure how much life it had left in it. She came by the other day and said it's still working and she is giving it to her friend. I HIGHLY reccomend that you find a Medela. Most medical supply stores have them if you can't find one any where else.
