How often do you get them a new/bigger bike?

DD 71/2 and DS 5, both got new bikes last summer. Their old ones were getting too small, so we got them new/bigger ones. DS' is a 14 inch and it seems to 'fit' him perfectly right now, but by new summer, may be too small, not sure. He is realy good on his bike and can handle his sisters 18 inch one no problem, so im wondering if its' too soon to get them new ones' again next summer...they would have used the bikes they have now for 2 years by then.

  • My boys got their first bikes when they were about 5, they were 16" BMX bikes. They got new bikes this summer when they turned 16 & 17...it was cheaper than driving school.

I just buy a new bike when it looks like he needs a new one. The last one I bought my son was about 2 years ago.It was a little big for him at the time so it still works well and is still in good shape...suprisingly, how he treats that thing, lol.

  • If they are flatfooted when sitting on the seat, they need a new one. They should be able to sit on the seat and have their toes touch the ground.
