  • I practice yoga occassionally w/my almost 4 year old and we do deep breathing just to help calm her down when she's in hysterics. It helps to calm her down and focus on what she is wanting to say & makes her feel better and more calm.

  • Some of my favorites are following my breath, meditation, mantras, singing/chanting, counting backward, visualization, and sequentially tensing then releasing my muscles. I also use things like essential oils when I need to too. I started teaching my kids g&c techniques when I saw they had a need for them. For my son, that was pretty early on (about 3-ish) to help him deal with his sensory issues. My daughter didn't need g&c techniques when she was younger, so I didn't start teaching her until just recently (she's 6). They've both done yoga too, but it doesn't really seem to ground or center them.
