Honestly..how often do your infants really wear shoes?

As I've said, I'm going through all the new baby clothes today..but at the same time I'm also going through my 18 months olds stuff too...putting stuff aside I no longer need to put in our yardsale we'll be having next weekend.
Now..this is just ridiculous but...my daughter has 22 pairs of INFANT shoes. Seriously. From size 0 to 2. This is not counting all the pairs she has in size 3 to 5. I'm not even going there yet.
Now, I'm looking at all the new infant shoes I've been given for our boy that will be born in a few weeks.(they are extremely adorable by the way hehe) So far, he has 7 pair.SEVEN.
Now..I'm being honest here...From birth to about 8 months, my daughter pretty much only wore socks,LOL.The shoes never looked comfortable on her.So all these shoes are pretty much still brand new! Waste of money I tell ya! A waste! And yet..I was still compelled to buy buy buy...they ARE adorable and all, lol.

  • Baby shoes are just so tiny and cute that you end up buying pair after pair! It's awful, especially if there's an adorable pair that are really expensive, as you're always so tempted to buy them! And yet most children, even once they get a bit older, seem to spend most of their time in just socks, or even just bare feet. Such a waste.

  • My grandson only wore shoes when he he was walking and the ground was too hot or if we were going in a store or out to eat.

  • We never bought infant shoes before 6-9 months... starting around that time (winter) they'd start wearing soft soled leather shoes. My 17 mo old still wears soft soled shoes.

  • have you seen those tiny crocs in the drug store...too funny. You are totally right. And the term crib shoes? On the flip, my last one had such tiny feet that I needed to order the smallest size when he did walk and need shoes....like a 1/1/2 or 16 euro

  • Never. I didn't put shoes on my children until after they learned to walk and even then ONLY when they were going to be outside... Shoes aren't generally good for their feet and can cause issues later in life if you put them on to young.

  • My son didn't wear shoes until he was walking, and my daughter will be the same way.

My mother-in-law is convinced that kids need to start wearing shoes as soon as they exit the womb, or you'll never get them to wear shoes...ever.
