How much is it to join your middle school pta and/or your high school pta?

  • I've never heard of them charging for anyone to join the PTA, it's purely voluntary. Are there places that charge? That's odd...

  • Middle School, they have levels... the basic is $50... it goes up from there $75, $100, $250, $500, $1000
    High School, they have an open donation... but if you do one of their suggested amounts it goes up $250, $500, $7500, $1000, $2500
    but for the high school you can choose to donate to a specific department too (art, sports, science, drama, etc.)

  • SabrinaMBowen... as far as PTA it is a national organization and each school MUST pay fees to be part of the national organization. There fore they MUST charge fees. Perhaps your school has some other parent organization. I know in our area the fees we have to send up for the elementary level equal about .75 cents per membership.

  • As a teacher it is only $5, but I don't know what it is for parents - our's is a PTO though....

  • What the heck? Ive never heard of such a thing. Are you in a public school? Im telling you, someday soon public schools will charge per week for teaching your child.

  • Wow I didn't even knew the charged you. I thought it was all volunteers. Kind of BS they want parents involved yet the charge them to be involved.

  • my mom said it was under $5 for me... and yes, at a public school...
    not sure since my girl is just starting K3 at a co-op school...

  • Elementary had a PTA and it was $10 a year, middle school had a PTO and there was no fee. High school has a PTA and there is no fee.
