what will happen?

im going to the dr on october 28th. i will be 16 weeks along. what should i expect at this appointment. she said she wouldnt do a sonogram until 18 weeks. so do i have to wait till 20 weeks when i go back to even see my little monkey?? should my bf go just in case. he is looking forward to seeing his baby and i would feel terrible if he missed it for the first time. eek.

  • You can expect the usual, asking how you're doing, any changes, any concerns, they use the doppler to hear the heartbeat, and off you go!

    They will usually wait until you're 20 weeks to do the u/s because at that point, they can look for developmental problems.

  • They usually refer you to a radiologist for your u/s. So you can make that apt when your bf is avavilble to go. They will do a heart rate and measure your belly, and ask how things are going. If this is your first prenatal apt, they will do a pelvic exam and order labs- blood to be drawn.
