what is a troll?

i read on a post that someone called someone olse a troll, is that a cafe mom thing or just a personal thing?

  • Cafemom thing, basically it is people with fake profiles trying to start trouble by asking or answering questions in a nasty or derogative manner.

  • It's an internet thing. You'll find "trolls" in any open thing like this. It's just someone who "trolls" the internet looking to start crap or posting stuff just to get a reaction.

  • It's an internet thing, not a cafemom thing, older probably than a lot of the moms on this site. It's a fishing analogy, trolling is where you drag bait behind you in a moving boat, hoping for a nibble. Internet trolling is putting out little bits of outrageous statements, hoping to get a rise out of people and get them to "take the bait" and start a screaming match.
