  • depends on how your making the spaghetti! sauce Alfredo olive oil and garlic.... if its sauce I like to do a meatloaf instead of meat balls. or homemade chicken fingers covered in mozz cheese and then you can dip them in your sauce puddle like rocket ships (LOL) or sometimes sausage cut like an octopus (hold long way up and down then cut the bottom to the middle like a pizza and spread the tentacles out) or with some sauteed peppers and onion to mix in. If its alfredoi have a million ideas. Any type of bread just seems so starchy to me I like to do protein with pasta.

  • We do a sald or a vegetable with almos tevery meal so pasta is no different. Brocoli goes excellent most of the time as does squash and uchinni.
And as a PP said before we have to have a protein as well so some chicken, ground beef or sausage gets worked in there as well. Shrimp if we've got the extra cash.

  • Sometimes a salad before hand, sometimes just italian bread and butter. Broccoli is always good on the side.

  • If you're using tomato sauce (as opposed to an al fredo type sauce or a meat sauce), try serving some beef tenderloin with the spaghetti and a salad. I don't care for garlic bread, so I serve with onion bread instead.
Another idea is a chicken breast, breaded and baked or sauteed, plus a mix of green and yellow beans.
Vegetable mixes are always good with anything: green & yellow beans with carrots; zucchini & yellow crooked neck squash; broccoli, cauliflower & snap peas.

My aunt serves a green salad and cottage cheese with spaghetti & meatballs, without fail. :)
