How much money will you be spending on Christmas??

I'm not able to sleep [hyper 8 month old!] so I'm making my Christmas list! Am I the only one excited already?! We have 3 children and a rather large family. We usually end up spending $500 by the time the holidays are over.

  • well thats not bad...I dunno yet. We mainly just buy for the kids. I have ideas but no list yet. I am working now so that should help us:) We also have 3 kids and it gets pricey!

  • Couldn't tell you. We're living pretty much paycheck to paycheck right now, so I can't really see that far ahead.

  • It depends... this year my husband got a substantial raise, so maybe more :D

    Usually we spend
    $300 for our kids... $100 each
    $150 for the nieces and nephews...$15 x 10 kids
    $ 60 we draw names for our siblings, so $60 for one couple
    $ 60 for dh's sister and husband
    $150 for parents $75 for each set
    $ 50 for grandparents $25 for each, we only have 2 between the 2 of us left
    $100 for miscellaneous friends and family
    ------
    $870... that is not even gifts for dh and I. Usually we get gifts at tax time for each other.

    Oh and another $100 on stocking stuffers. Holy crap... I need to get on buying and saving.

  • We sent letters out to extended family in Nov with a nice family portait of us stating that we would not be buying presents for extended family this year and to please reciprocate and not get us anything either. So we just purchased for our 2 kids and our parents and that was it. We spent about $500 total. where it had been $800+ previous years.

  • We usually have a pretty big Christmas but this year things are tight so I'm planning to spend One Hundred Dollars on each of our kids (3 of them), buy for my DH and then make candy/things for the other family members.
