  • I learned the basics in a cooking class during high school. I picked things up along the way. I learned to make lumpia and pancit from a Filipino nanny I had in Italy. I learned to cook Italian food when I lived in Italy because of my landlord's wife.

  • I learned to cook a few things from my Granny, very specific things that didn't translate well into cooking as a whole.

That said, the majority of my cooking I have taught myself. My mom wasn't much of a cook, so I was left to my own devices.

  • My dad taught me how to cook. He taught me how to experiment on recipes too. He also taught me how to make a complete disaster of my kitchen!

  • I learned from both my parents, while my Mom did most day to day cooking my Dad often stepped in on Italian dishes (He's Italian), and things like steaks.

  • I watched my mom (but wasn't allowed to help, had to stay out of the way), my grandma taught me a little, I'm mostly self-taught and now my mom calls me for cooking tips/advice/recipes. I have learned some stuff from my MIL & SIL since getting married ;o).

  • For the most part, I learned on my own. I basically learned how to boil and scramble eggs from my mom. I learned how to make mashed potatoes from my aunt. That stuff happened when I was really young. Since then, I've learned everything on my own.

  • I learned on my own. We married young and I wanted to be able to cook the things hubby liked. He told me when we got married if I could cook chicken he would be happy - our friends joke that I can cook chicken 365 different ways.apron
