Do you make pie crusts from scratch?

I LOVE to bake. LOVE it. I despise making pie crusts, though. I made a peach pie today and it would have saved me so much time if I would have just bough the premade stuff. So, which do you use?

  • Nope, I had a disaster when I tried to make my own pie crust. I normally use Pillsbury pie dough when I am making a pie.

  • I have made it from scratch many times, and, honestly its just NOT worth the work. The premade crusts are actually pretty decent quality. Its worth the money and the saving of time

  • I only make my own. Every time I buy one I am dissatisfied and regret buying it. I use my kitchenaid mixer to make pie crust and it turns out beautifully. I also only make it with butter, because I don't like the taste of a shortening crust.

  • I've never made it in my kitchen aid mixer. I do a butter crust, but I make it using my Cuisinart food processor. It always tastes great, but I always wonder if I should just save my self some time and buy a

  • I make the crust from scratch but it is HARD and MESSY and it NEVER comes out anything like my mom's (her recipe)! I have heard that replacing the water with vodka mkes it easier - lots of chemistry behind the reason, all those molecules sticking together, somehow it happens just right with vodka b/c of its lower freezing point or someething...

  • I hate making pie crusts but I do not care for the taste of store-bought crusts. So, I make my own. Graham crusts, cookie crusts, single crusts, double crusts. I've learned several tricks to make a great tasting, light and flaky crust, I just hate rolling it out.

  • It depends on what kind of pie I'm making. The Pillsbury pre-made crusts are really good. I use them a lot. But, when I feel like going all out...I make them myself.
