If you receive your neighbor's mail by accident, do you give it to them yourself or put it back into the mailbox?

  • If you don't feel comfortable giving to them, then just put it in their mail box. That's what I do. Just think in ways what you would want them to do if it were reversed.

  • We usually give it to the neighbor if we know them and put it in the intended mailbox (if the piece of mail was properly addressed) if we don't personally know them.

  • depends on the neighbor. if we know them, we'll knock on the door and give it to them personally. if we haven't met, i'll just leave it in their mailbox or by their door.

    we've always had mail delivery problems.

  • I give it to them so that they know there was a mix up. More things may be missing that they should be on the lookout for.

  • We have 4 mailboxes on one post, so I usually just put it in the correct box... it takes 2 seconds and I would want them to do the same for me

  • Just give it to them or leave it on their door or someplace they would notice if they were not home.
