Do you think t is ok to tell a 5 year old she looks sexy?

My niece tells her daughter she looks sexy. I personally think it very inappropriate. Everyone I have asked their opinion on it agrees with me ,except surprisingly, my mother. She says nothing surprises her anymore, which really wasn't what I was asking her anyway.I personally want to keep my 5 year old girl from trying to "look sexy" for as long as possible.

  • Eh, I don't tell my girls that. I think it's kind of weird myself.

  • I definitely think it's inappropriate ! Cute yes... but at 5 sexy shouldn't even be a descriptive word that parents use in regards to their kids.

Is it a joke when she says it or is she serious ?

  • No that is not something I would tell my daughter or ANY one else's daughter. She looks cute, hip, pretty, sweet, or ANYTHING else, but not sexy!

  • of course it is inappropriate - trouble is what exactly can you do about it? Have you spoken to your sis about it ? Very sad for a 5 yr old to start thinking of herself in terms of whether they can attract a sexual response from anyone :-(

  • NO!! Kids already grow up too fast these days. I work so hard to keep my DS a little boy, not immature but innocent.

  • Absolutely NOT okay... seriously, can't she think of a more appropriate term for a "CHILD"?!
