Can my preemie, now 8.5 weeks old, almost 6 lbs, go 6 hours w/out milk?

  • Once a day, hopefully to do the big sleep.

  • he's still really little I'd keep feeding him as often as you could to get him to gain the weight he needs but maybe if he eats more at a time he can go longer periods without it.

  • yeah, especially for sleeping because he's going to sleep through the night but yeah give him a bigger bottle at night before bed and then see how long he sleep through the night

  • Thanks. After looking up online for this weight the baby should get 18-20 oz. a day, if we're doing that and baby isn't cueing for milk, then 6 hours is okay. This will never happen though, she sleeps for 1-2 hours max at any given time.

  • My Dd woke up every 3 hours for milk on the dot until she was about 6 months old. Then she started waking up every 4 hours.

  • Maybe.

    Both my kids were sleeping through the nite/going without milk for that long at 5 weeks old (my son was full-term baby; my daughter was 3 born months premature).
