How can I get my 5 month old to eat solids?

I started my 5 month old on rice cereal about 3 weeks ago and she was eating it just fine util I started introducing the Gerber 1st foods- now she wont eat ANY solid food. She just pushes the spoon away and sticks out her tounge....How can I convince her to eat them again?

  • Shes telling you shes not ready. According to the AAP children under the age of 6 months should not have solids. And until the age of at least a year breastmilk and formula should be the MAIN source of nutrients and solids are just desert, a slow experimental introduction to eatting.

  • Baby doesn't need solids until they are 12 months old. MY son is 9 months old and won't eat anything at all. Don't worry your baby will survive w/ out solids for the first year.
