have you ever donated liver? (as in, a piece of yours)

I cannot seem to find anything on a specific question I have: can you safely have kids afterwards? As in, me, a female doing the donating, carry another baby safety to term in the future?

I know it's not advisable after a kidney donation.... but I can find NOTHING on livers. Help!

  • It does, and you are only allowed to donate once due to scar tissue. But as for the pregnancy issue, I really don't know. I didn't ask that because I am planning on donating AFTER my kids are all in school and a little more capable of taking care of themselves with little supervision.

  • The best advice I have is to go to your local hospital that does such transplants and talk to their advising specialist. He/she should be able to answer all of your questions.

  • I was my understanding the liver regenerates in the donor.
