Did you "take" your spouse's last name when you got married?

More specifically did you keep your given middle name or make your maiden name your middle name if you took your spouse's last name? I gave up my maiden name and took my hubby's last name and kept my "original" middle name.

  • I took my husband last name and kept my original middle name. I really have no attachment to my maiden name.

  • Only married 2 months and I haven't "taken" his name....yet. Actually I am still deciding. I have my 1st name and his last name as a email address to test it out for now. Also, I will drop my middle name. I actually wanna make Keisha(my 1st name) my middle name because everyone knows me as that and make Rachael(my Hebrew name) my 1st name. That's a lot of changing, that's why I'm taking my time.

  • I hyphenated my name my first marriage (the 70s). My second marriage I kept my maiden name.

  • First marriage I never changed anything. 2nd marriage I took his last name and dumped my maiden name. I like my middle name and don't like my fathers side of the family so giving up the name was easy :) Plus I really wanted to have the same last name as our son. I didn't have kids in my first marriage.

  • Both times (divorced and just remarried May 8th this year...I waited 8 yrs. to get re-married) I have taken my spouses name. I dropped my middle name and kept my maiden name as my middle name...it made it easier in the transition with all the checks and credit cards and so forth...
