Would it be wrong of me to give my 1 yr old a Special K crisp bar for breakfast?

She loves the strawberry and blueberry ones. My husband tells me I should be giving her something else. Would you give your child one?

  • Why not? I have but I don't for every breakfast. They still need variety and they also need to know that they have to alternate foods to keep from becoming picky eaters.

  • My son is 4 and he loves those kind of things too. I think it's fine, better than donuts or something completely unhealthy lol. My son steals my Kashi bars all the time!

  • I give my son cereal bars for breakfast sometimes, but I always add in a fruit as well, like sliced bananas. I haven't tried the Special K ones. I usually give him really soft ones.

  • If she can chew it, and likes it, let her eat it. Tell him if he doesn't like what you feed her to feed her himself. :). I would say it nicely.

  • There are a lot worse things you could give poptarts! lol. I see no harm in it :)

  • We do something like that every Sunday and Wednesday because we are always running out the door for Church or a Bible Study... just make sure you read the ingredients and there isn't anything in there your kid shouldn't be eating. We also like the Oatmeal "Cookies" they are shaped like cookies but are like different flavors of oatmeal in a bar form... they like the banana nut

  • If she likes it, why not? My DS isn't much of a breakfast eater, sometimes he'll have a granola bar. I figure as long as he's getting something nutritious in his tummy it's all good.

  • For a snack yes but not breakfast. I would be worried about a choking hazard just because they are so hard. I gave mine pancakes, waffles, grits, eggs, toast, sliced bananas etc..
