I am looking for a fun activity to teach elementary age children about floods. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

  • Are you teaching them for safety reasons or just trying to explain what a flood is? In any case you might try putting a smaller baby pool into a larger baby pool. Add rubber duckies for cuteness and entertainment. Fill the smaller one until it overflows and the duckies float over the sides. The bigger pool can catch the water. If you really want to entertain them you could let them take turns pouring in water themselves until it overflows. Assign a certain duckie to each student and make a game to see which rubber duckie floats out first...kinda like Jenga or Uno-Stacko. The one who makes it overflow or loses a duckie is out.
