can i still use this pump?

i had to take radioative iodine and couldn't breastfeed for two days. i pumped the milk and dumped it out during those days. can i still use the pump. it is just a cheap manual pump and i don't plan on using it again, but i would like to have it just in case. so is it ok to use this pump?

  • If you sterilize it for ten minutes in boiling water it should be fine. But I would er on the side of caution and just buy another cheap manual pump.

  • Yes, just wash it in really hot soapy water.

  • Yes :) Just make sure you clean and sanitize it very well. :)

  • sorry but I'd buy a new one, radiation soaks into things, and plastic is porous.

10 years ago, they told me to stop breastfeeding all together after I had to take radioactive iodine for an imaging test. kinda makes me sad that now it's just 2 days of pumping and dumping.
