If you married someone and found out he was your cousin, would you stay married or divorced them? It could be a child that was put up for adoption so it could happen. Or the person could be your brother you never know with adoption.

  • I would think we would have known each other and our pasts well enough that that possibility would not occur, therefore, we would not have gotten married depending how close of cousins we were and definitely not if a brother sister situation.

  • There are no answers for this until you are involved in such a way! I would probably know if someone was related to me though. It's why they also do testing before marriage!

  • I would be checking VERY CAREFULLY before marrying anyone to start with. That's partially why some states perform blood tests before marriage. My state no longer does. YOu have to pretty uh know EVERYTHING about a person before marriage, you know?

  • I would be upset and would probably file for divorce..that would be a horrible situation..and they do not require blood tests anymore btw..and this situation is very possible if one grandparent has a child with another man and decides to never tell who the father is and this so called father has another family and children...very very possible my case i could of dated my cousins and never know all bc my grandmother is gonna take who my mothers father is to her GRAVE!~

  • I always wonder how often this can happen today with so many people out here growing up not knowing their fathers, families are not as strong, marriage is not always happening before children...blood tests are not always performed

  • Stay married unless it was REALLY close (like 3rd or closer). Anything further than that doesn't really bother me.

  • I would probably stay married. If I fell in love with someone not knowing he was a family member, I couldn't just *stop* loving him once I found out.

A woman I used to know was married to a man who turned out to be her half-brother. They even had a child together.
